Recently the craze to watch satellite TV on PC has taken the world by storm. More and more TV viewers watch digital satellite TV on PC currently as compared to a year ago. As most homes in developed and fast developing countries have a computer. The number of people surf the net continuously rising, at present around a billion people each day are using the internet world over. Due to this the rise in PC satellite TV business is destined to grow and become more and more popular. Viewers are more selective in terms of TV entertainment today as there are better options than analog and cable TV are available to them. For a person to be able to watch satellite TV on their PC all he needs to do is download some software directly from the web on to their PC and off they go.

The benefit to be gained from watching satellite TV on your PC as compared to using the traditional system is the cost. All you pay for is the software which you have to download. You are no longer needed to worry each month about the fees that a traditional satellite provider asks for providing their service. Many satellite providers are also charging additional fee for their sports and movie sites. Moreover if you want to watch the big game then this will probably attract pay per view. By enabling yourself to watch satellite TV on PC, you get all the programs for free.
Satellite TV through the internet is going to be the future for us. In fact many people will be wondering how they ever watched TV any other way before. There are 2 common ways to enable your computer to watch Satellite TV. On top of that you can also listen to digital radio on your PC along with Satellite TV.

One of the ways is to use a PCTV card. With a PCTV card, you can get digital television as well as radio on your PC with clear picture and audio quality. There is one type which can be installed directly into your PC whilst the other type is an external box that just needs to be able to plug into a USB port on a PC. These cards offer you an access to over 200 to 300 satellite channels in the present time and growing continuously. The processor inside your PC should be a Pentium II 333MHz and carry an operating system such as Windows 98/ME/2000 or XP. It should also include a good quality sound card, a spare USB slot and a CD Rom drive. Plus if you happen to be a real computer geek you could also include a card that has either windows media player, real player or quick time player on them. All of which will take your viewing on to the next and higher level. As long as your computer has the configuration we have mentioned above you will be able to have lot of fun when you watch satellite TV on PC in the future. You will get access to 4.000 channels… You may probably end up fighting with yourself what program you really would like to see. You can also watch live sport games.

Other option available for you to watch Satellite TV on PC is through PC satellite software. It has rocked the TV entertainment world and changed its face forever. If you consider PCTV cards to be a marvel, then the software is just awesome for you. Once you download the software from the retailers, you just need to run the installation and it is ready to go. You can make a choice from more than 2000 to 3000 satellite television stations worldwide all from your computer using the software. This brings the number of available programs to at least 10 times that of PCTV cards and all these benefits are available to you for a very small price tag. This may be the reason why people are going for the software when they want to watch digital satellite TV on PC.

Satellite TV reception through PC using the software option is very cheap, there is only a one time fee you have to pay and then you will receive a software which works with all windows versions, then you just install it and then you’re ready to watch satellite TV channels of your choice. No doubt that anyone would be very happy if they could download free PC satellite TV software and enjoy their day watching their favorite sport events or TV shows. A lot of free downloads available out there on the net in fact those available downloads are only the free trial, which you have to choose in the end whether you want to stop using it or continue using it by subscribing to the monthly fee or one time fee. Free versions of these softwares are mostly illegal and the paid software is absolutely legitimate. Most of the paid version PC Satellite TV Software has a member area, where you can see the schedule of the TV or radio programs, sport events are one of the best they offer. It is always better to select one time payment option rather than selecting a monthly payment option. However the decision is always in your own hand. As well as having easy to download and install software available rather than you being stuck with only having a few hundred satellite channels to watch, instead you have the option of over 3,000 to watch instead.

HOT Update – Now watch Satellite TV on PC for just $49.95 only(one time fees). No extra hardware or TV card required.

Satellites Dish Systems are used all over the world to receive a variety of channels for television viewing. Mostly satellite service providers give you the complete satellite system you will be using for the programs that you will be watching on your TV sets. The satellite receiver is the nerve center of the system and it is the section that is most likely to be the culprit, if your satellite system goes blank, as electronic equipment all too often does. Then you are stuck with a broken system that has some sort of malfunction and you need it to work correctly, because you want to see your favorite show. It’s your system, because the satellite service provider gave it to you and it is entirely your responsibility to get it repaired, or replaced, because it is your personal property.

Generally cables are used to connect a television with a satellite dish provided by a service provider. Satellite dishes use air space to connect to the satellite signals and in turn, relay them for viewing. However, we never pay attention to the satellite system unless transmission is interrupted. At times, it is really annoying to switch on a television set only to watch a blinking screen. In such cases, you may try to tune the satellites dish. While tuning a small satellite dish, it is very important to maintain the accurate compass direction. When the receiver is turned on and put in tuning mode, a graph will display the satellite signal strength. The satellite dish is moved ever so gently by a hairs width, up and down, side to side, until you reach the highest satellite signal strength. This gives you the best chance of viewing However, this is just a method to try and eliminate the problem. It is also important to check the receiver menu. This helps to conclude if odd or even transponders are missing. If any of these are not responding, main power source should be checked. Satellite dish owners may try to disconnect the receiver and LNB for a few minutes and then reconnect. Sometimes this may solve the problem. Loss of signal may also occur due to heavy rainfall or snow storm. In such a case it is essential to adjust the dish to receive signals. If channels are still unavailable for viewing the dish satellite system may require repairing.

Satellite dish owner requires checking these minor adjustments because the entire satellite dish system works as a unit. It is also advisable to check the cable wires for fragments or cracks. If these adjustments still do not permit viewing the channels, then the satellite dish system may need repairs. A satellite system is supposed to be a one shot deal. You bring it home and that is supposed to be the last time you want to mess with it. Some satellite service providers give their receiver flashy striking names that are meant to sound high tech. Good Satellite service providers know what is important, its electronics that is inside of it, not the flashy name on the outside.

Satellite TV signal reception has vulnerabilities. During heavy rain or snow storms, the amount of data carried in the signal is reduced, sometimes so much so that the computer which constructs the picture on the screen can’t do its job. When this happens little blocks pop up on the screen. This is called picture break up. If the rain or snow storm becomes heavier, the data will became so reduced that the video freezes its movement. The computer crashes. Unplugging the receiver, removing and reinserting the smart card usually fix the computer crash. When the storm has passed and the dish can receive, the satellite TV data at a normal signal strength, everything will work, normally once the receiver is plugged in and turned on.
Before choosing a specialized technician for repairs, it is advisable to discuss your problem you’re your friends, family members and relatives who may have had similar experiences. Most of the time, this helps you a lot to fix your problem. You may also opt to fill an online application to contact a technician. Before doing so always complete your research for the technician or the service firm to be contacted in case of emergency. Moreover it is very important for you to get the routine maintenance of satellite dish systems, as recommended by the manufacturer by a good qualified technician. Unfortunately, sometimes repairs will not be an option and the system will need to be replaced.

There is nothing abnormal about the crashing of the satellite dish system as most of the components are continuously exposed to the mercy of harsh weather conditions. Therefore do not panic if your system crashes just go to the qualified person to get it repaired and start re-enjoying your favorite channels once again.

A cable descrambler allows you to view scrambled channels received from your cable operator. It is capable of restoring the picture and sound of a scrambled channel. Cable descramblers are legal products. Cable operators generally provide you a cable box directly from the cable company when you sign up with them for regular or digital cable service. Based upon your choice they select certain channels and descramble them while others remain scrambled. There may be additional features to permit cable customers to watch “pay per view” or “on demand” shows and movies.
There is a wide range of cable descramblers available in the market. Cost of a cable descrambler may vary, depending on its quality and features. You should buy an up-to-date cable descrambler from your cable TV company.
In this way you will benefit from the latest technology at a reasonable price, as cable TV companies usually have different price offers for different customer budgets. If you desire to buy a cable descrambler off the market, be very careful what you are buying. Do not buy converter instead of descrambler. A converter is an electronic tuning device and basically it makes your TV set get the channels even if your TV is not the cable ready type. If you the purchase the cable descrambler from the market and the use of the descrambler is authorized by the cable company, and appropriate subscriptions are paid by you, there is no problem. However, if the device purchased by you is a pirate box descrambler which decodes cable television signals without any authorization or payment, that use is illegal. Unauthorized use of cable descrambler ordinarily calls for a civil and criminal litigation against the person who possesses the descrambler.

A cable technician sometime detects an illegal descrambler while performing service. Present technology also enables a cable company to detect the presence of a cable box within a particular house which does not subscribe to their cable services. If the cable descrambler is detected in a residence where there was no cable subscription, or is found to be connected to the live cable line where there is no lawful use for the box other than the possibility of descrambling, it is much more likely that a civil suit will result, and it is more likely that the police will take an interest in the case.

Beside the illegality factor, the first thing you should know is that cable descramblers are available in two models: a single unit and with two-piece units. The device containing single unit holds a converter and a descrambler assembled jointly inside a single box, it is a compact unit and it has its own set of advantages. The unit offers you the possibility of being easily installed and repaired. This kind of cable descrambler has the advantage of being compatible to the systems used by the cable companies to service their networks. But it is costly if you seek the replacement from the market. On the other hand, the two-piece unit comes with two separate systems –one piece holding a converter and the other one holding a cable descrambler which are interconnected and serve the same purpose. This system has the advantage of making you pay less for every component compared to the single unit device. In case one of the pieces breaks down, you can get it repaired or change it for a new one, without affecting the other piece.

Cable TV companies generally use another type of descramblers, known as addressable converter descrambler that can be effortlessly controlled by the cable company. The cable TV company sends a coded message through its cable network and this coded message reaches the device that every consumer has and the unit verifies the code and after verification starts descrambling the premium or pay-per-view channels that the customer has previously paid for. This type of device allows the cable TV company to easily disconnect the consumers that are not paying their bill.

There is one important point that you should keep in mind while purchasing cable descramblers is the fact that these descramblers do not work everywhere. The use of cable descramblers differs from one cable network to another as cable TV companies use different scrambling systems of various brand name or model. Therefore you must verify with your cable company so that you may purchase the exact type of cable descramblers that your cable TV company is using.

If your cable descrambler is not functioning, you should contact your TV cable provider. It could be possible that your equipment is out-of-date and it may not meet the required standards of your cable company anymore.

Beware! Always try to stay away from bargain cable descramblers that are not being traded in specialized stores, as this may lead you to end up spending your money for a good for nothing device.

HDTV stands for high definition television, a new means of broadcasting and the machines that take advantage of it. HDTV broadcasts video digitally, in contrast to the common analog formats like PAL, NTSC, and SECAM.HDTV is defined as having 1080 active pixel lines and a screen with a length-to-height ratio of 16:9. This screen shape departs from the conventional ratio of 4:3. The new ratio lends itself better to widescreen movies. HDTV resolution is about twice as high as typical CRT sets, which have 480 active pixel lines instead of 1080. The increase in resolution is just one of the benefits of HDTV. Because the image is digital rather than analog, it tends to be much sharper on televisions of all sizes.
HDTV tuner is commonly known as ATSC tuner also. It allows reception of digital television signals broadcast over-the-air by TV stations. Such tuners may be incorporated into the televisions, VCRs, digital video recorders, and descramblers which provide audio/video output-connectors of various types.

The terms like HDTV tuner and receiver are used freely and frequently. The tuner generates the audio and video signals needed for television and performs the tasks like demodulation, error correction, transport stream demultiplexing, decompression, analog to digital conversion, AV synchronization, and media reformatting which includes interlace to progressive scan or vice versa, picture resolutions, aspect ratio conversions, frame rate conversion, even scaling. It is commonly used to convert a low-resolution picture to a high-resolution display. HDTV tuner functions by generating audio and video signals that are picked up from over the air TV broadcasts. These tuners provide the functions like:
Demodulation: it means the signal that is pulled off the airways is transformed into a usable signal that your TV set can use to display quality images and quality sound.

Transport stream demultiplexing: multiple digital signals are combined and then transmitted from one antenna source to create over the air broadcasts. HDTV tuner is able to decode the transport stream and display it on your TV set properly.

Decompression: digital signals that are broadcasted over the air are compressed, once they are received by the HDTV tuner, these compressed packets of digital data are then restored to their original size and properties, this saves signal loss and the quality of the signal is maintained throughout the procedure.
Error correction: It is a technology used by the HDTV tuner to make sure that any data that is missing should be corrected. Sometimes interference or a poor quality signal will cause the loss of data information that the HDTV tuner receives, with the help of error correction technology, the HDTV tuner has the ability to perform a number of checks and repair data so that a signal can be properly viewed on a particular TV set.
Analog to digital conversion: it is sometimes called ADC or A to D conversion, this refers to a technology in which an analog signal is converted into digital signals. In the perspective of HDTV tuner, an analog TV broadcast that is broadcasted over the air is received by the HDTV tuner and converted to a new digital signal that can be viewed on a HD TV set.

AV synchronization: it is usually the coordination of audio and video signals being displayed on your digital TV in proper time and sequence. AV synchronization process makes sure that your audio sound doesn’t lag behind or runs before the video that is being displayed on your TV set or vice versa. This technology makes sure that both your audio and video are in synchronization mode.
Media reformatting: It is extremely important and delicate process because different TV sets format their images significantly different and can use several different technologies. A HD TV has a progressive scan picture. With progressive scan, the entire image is refreshed 30 times per second. HD TV’s can come in different aspect ratios (shape of the TV screen). HD TV’s come in aspect ratios more in the shape of a 16:9 rectangle.
As soon as you shift to HDTV, you may need to obtain various appliances with one function or the other in order to give the best viewing and experience a most near perfect situation.

Among these appliances is the AV Tuner which is very useful both in an HDTV setup. Most consumers have put it into use. These appliances make shifting from one audio or video sources to another very easy. Some of the leading and best selling A/V selector switches/ Tuners available in the market include;

The Sima VS
It can be positioned anywhere due to its compact design and selecting a source is very easy. All that need to be done is a touch of a button. It’s Specifications include 1 HDMI output and 3 HDMI inputs, Signal Enhancement, Compact and light remote control and AC adaptor.

The JVC JX
Its Specifications are 1 input with stereo audio jacks and component video. 1 output with composite video, 5 – video and stereo audio jacks. 2 inputs with composite video, 5 – video and stereo audio jacks, 3 inputs with audio jacks and component video, 1 year parts warranty.

Beside these many others are also available in the market with more advanced features.

Direct TV descramblers are devices inside the satellite TV receiver that restores the high-density TV signals in the Ku band from the satellite that beamed directly to the home of the viewer, prohibiting the need of a cable operator using a 30cm to 46cm diameter small dish antennae and a Direct TV descrambler. The signals are intentionally scrambled to make sure these TV signals are not usable to people who have not subscribed to the satellite programming package including these signals. Direct TV descramblers use a digitally derived key to unscramble these signals. The Satellite TV service providers transmit the TV signal with a portion of the key code that will unscramble the signal. The rest of the key is programmed into the receivers subscribers have in their homes or offices. The signal is fed into the receiver, the Direct TV descrambler matches up the portion of the key code in the signal with the key code in the receiver. When these codes match, the access card present in the Direct TV descrambler then provides access to that programming authorized by the subscription. So that subscribers are able to decode channels and view a plethora of programs. Subscribers are provided with channel cards that are essentially prepaid debit cards.

The price of set-top box and antenna varies according to Provider Company. Service providers recover their costs through the subscription fee that accrues to them from the sales of channel cards to the subscribers. The DTH operator offers a bouquet of channels, once the subscriber purchases the SIM card. The subscribers will have direct access to high-quality programs on pay channels. People in far flung areas, where cable operators are yet to provide the service, can use dish antennae for receiving TV channels. DTH can also provide satellite-based radio services.
Usually a number of cable TV subscribers are unhappy with the irregular cable TV service providers that keep on shifting the channels, without any prior notification at the expense of other channels. Direct TV descrambler eliminates the requirement of cable service providers altogether and empowers the subscriber to access error-free programs with better picture and audio quality. At the same time it allows the broadcasters to tap homes in rural and remote un-cabled areas. One has the option to choose from as many as 300 to 800 channels. Beside that pay channels have direct and better control over revenues. Broadcasters of the pay channels generally feel that cable operators most of the time misreport the number of actual subscribers, resulting in revenue losses. Direct TV descrambler also assures to benefit hardware manufacturers as increase in subscriber base would lead to increase in demand and supply of Direct TV descrambler components.

The Direct TV descrambler functions on the signal frequencies ranging from 10.7 to 12.75 GHz received from the satellite that is amplified and down-converted into the 950MHz to 2,150MHz range by the LNB. After that the tuner selects the required RF channel in this range and converts it into a 480MHz IF. This signal is then further amplified and demodulated. The analog signals are converted by A to D converter and error correction is realized by forward error correction block.

Selection and descrambling of the data packets for the required program are executed by the descrambler under the control of the conditional access device that includes smart card readers. The demultiplxer unit selects the data packets matching to the program selected by the subscriber, using programmable filters. The audio and video outputs of the demultiplxer are applied to the MPEG block that combines MPEG AV and graphic-control functions for the electronic program guide. Video signals reconstructed by the MPEG decoder are then provided to digital video encoder for conversion and subsequent display on a TV set. A microprocessor interprets user commands from the remote control, and manages the smart card readers and the communications interfaces.

Direct TV descramblers are part of the system used to keep hackers from gaining unauthorized access to these signals being distributed by the Satellites. Hackers are people who try to cheat to get the service for free and for that everyone else pays for. The hackers try to cheat by not paying for this service, or paying a greatly reduced fee. These hackers feel they have a right to the TV signals transmitted through the airwave, whether scrambled or not. They do not seem to recognize that the only reason the huge number channels are available is that the satellite TV companies are able to work with subscribers willing to pay for the service.

Only drawback to Direct TV descrambler is the effect caused by the various modes of interference like rain, sun, adjacent satellites, and terrestrial interference. Moisture blocks signals and also absorbs some of them. Sun spots, the magnetic storm on the sun’s surface, can directly affect satellites placed outside the ionosphere. Users are usually required to have a clear and unobstructed view of the satellite, and the dish must be aligned accurately. Commercial viability and the tremendous expense involved for both service providers as well as subscribers are the other major deterrents to Direct TV descrambler.

To have crystal clear image on your TV sets, a cable network is necessary. In order to achieve that cable TV companies install the cable lines all over cities, running from one end to another and from one house to another. All these cables form the cable network, through which the TV signal is permanently running. To enhance the quality of the transmission and minimize the signal loss to produce a good quality of audio and video cable companies use the digital transmission method. This also enables the cable company to protect its income and profit by using a simple method: scrambling all the TV signals that run through the cable lines. By installing a cable descrambler in a house, this problem is fixed. Every client of the cable company has a cable descrambler attached to their TV sets, but not all of them are activated. When the client pays the cable bill, the cable TV company is sending information through the cable line that is activating your cable descrambler and the client starts getting images on their TV set. Cable companies often use cable descramblers for pay-per-view and premium channels too.

Digital cable descrambler is a piece of equipment that is attached to the TV set for you get to see crystal clear images. After installing it, the company will activate it for you. The image on your TV is the result of the cable descrambler action; it is this device that transforms the TV signal into image. The digital cable descrambler sits between your TV set and the cable wire. The TV signals sent by the cable company first reach to this equipment through the attached cable. The signals are already encrypted by the cable company, on the receipt of the signals the descrambler analyses the data and tries to match the encrypted code present in the signal, if your payment to the cable company is clear then the code matches and it starts decoding the signals to viewable form so that you may be able to watch the channels you want to see.

The cable company transmits at least 2 to 300 channels in encrypted form but it is not necessary that you would be able to watch all those channels on your TV set with the help of the descrambler, instead of that your descrambler will show you only those channels for which you have paid to the cable company.

If you want to buy digital cable descrambler then keep in mind that these are available in two types, the first type consists of single unit that holds a converter and a descrambler assembled jointly, it’s a compact assembly and it has its own benefits and losses. This type of descrambler offers you the possibility of being easily installed and repaired. This descrambler has the advantage of being compatible to the systems used by most of cable companies. But this descrambler is costly if you seek the replacement from the market. The second type available comprise of two separate systems packed individually–one system holding a converter and the other one holding a cable descrambler which are interconnected and serve the same purpose as the first type. This type of descrambler has the benefit of paying less for every system compared to the single unit device. In case one of the system breaks down, you can get it repaired or change it for a new one, without affecting the other system.

The cable TV company sends a coded message through its cable network and this coded message reaches the device that every client has and the descrambler verifies the code and after verification starts descrambling the premium or pay-per-view channels that the customer has previously paid for. This type of device allows the cable TV company to easily disconnect the non paying consumers.
The use of cable descramblers differs from one cable network to another as cable network since they use different type of scrambling systems. Therefore if you want to buy the descrambler then you must verify with your cable company beforehand so that you may purchase the exact type of cable descrambler that your cable TV company recommends for use. If you are facing any problem with the functioning of your descrambler, then you should contact your cable provider. Most important is always try to act as per the advise of your cable service provider.

The digital cable descrambler works in the same way as normal cable descramblers but they possess the advanced feature of descrambling digital cable signal. At present you have 2 options: the normal cable descrambler and the digital cable descrambler. It is advisable to purchase a digital cable descrambler as the technology is progressing fast and soon enough, all cable TV companies will replace their old fashioned cable descramblers for new high-tech digital cable descramblers.

At present popularity of HDTV is growing at a brisk pace. You are allowed to watch amazing 1080 resolution broadcasts over the air for free. All you require is a HDTV set with a built-in HDTV tuner and an HDTV antenna. Antenna is a metallic structure designed to resonate at a specific frequency and to be reactive over a particular range of frequencies. Antennas are designed to function either in the range of UHF, VHF or both frequencies. Television broadcasts take place in the VHF and the UHF bands. HD signal is made up and recognized through its contents, by its modulation and not the carrier frequency it is transmitted on. Antenna doesn’t really care whether the signal is high definition or not. It has absolutely no idea what the signal resolution is, or whether the signal is analog, digital or HD.

Antenna type you require actually depends on the distance from the broadcasting tower and on the environment the antenna is installed in. If you live close to the tower you can manage with an indoor antenna. If you intend to pick the signals from more distant TV stations, then an outdoor TV antenna is necessary. The larger the distance is, the more powerful antenna is required. Omni- or multi-directional antennas can be used at small to medium distances from the towers. In remote areas directional TV antennas should be used, if you are located very far from the broadcasting towers and the signal is really weak, you may have no option left but to complement your outdoor TV antenna with a pre-amplifier.
Now the point of consideration is what broadcasts are available in your area and what are reception conditions with respect to each one of the broadcasts you are interested. Reception conditions are specified by a color code. The Consumer Electronics Association has defined seven color zones like Yellow, Green, Light Green, Red, Blue, Violet and Pink. Yellow zone is the one where reception quality is the best, pink zone is the toughest. CEA classification applies to outdoor TV antennas only.

The selection of the antenna is also dependant on some more factors like whether the transmission is really HD, color zone type, frequency of the signal, distance, channel, band and orientation of the antenna. These factors play a vital role in the selection and performance of your HDTV. Here are few more tips for you to keep in mind it is a good idea to upgrade recommended antenna by one level up. Antenna performance is hard to predict, there may be specific reception difficulties with your location. Price differences are usually very small and it is better to be on a safe side. Color area coding applies to outdoor TV antennas only. However, if you are located in a yellow or green area, there is a good chance an indoor TV antenna, or better, an amplified indoor TV antenna will work well for you.

Outdoor TV antennas performance is location dependant and hard to predict, indoor TV antenna performance prediction is outright impossible. RF radiation is absorbed differently by different construction materials, which makes an indoor TV antenna performance to be dependant on the materials your house is built of or the direction your windows are opening at. Indoor antennas are always inferior to their outdoor counterparts. Indoor TV antennas are used for many reasons, ease of installation being the most common one. Indoor TV antennas are especially popular with individuals living in apartments or rented homes. Antenna that works in the red, blue, violet or pink reception areas are the appropriate outdoor antenna, the indoor TV antenna is not just right. However, if all the broadcasts you want are in a light green or better areas, you have a chance. An indoor TV antenna is likely to work well in a yellow zone, and an amplified indoor TV antenna may work well in a green or light green zones. Nothing can be guaranteed, and the only way to know is to experiment. Fancy indoor TV antennas offer only marginal improvement over traditional rabbit ears. If you use rabbit ears and see nothing but snow, don’t waste your money on an expensive indoor antenna. It is unlikely you’ll get good quality signal. If you do that check the return policy of the store you are buying in. Or still better get yourself an outdoor antenna. If an indoor TV antenna pulls in the yellow area broadcasts with reasonable quality, but not the green area broadcasts, upgrading to an amplified indoor TV antenna may solve the problem. But there is no guarantee.

Whether you are after an outdoor or indoor TV antenna, select an antenna model, read reviews on it and compare prices in the store and you are ready for the purchase of your own HDTV antenna.

Satellite descramblers are present among us from the good old days as huge boxes that sat on your television sets and connected to giant satellite dishes, some of which required to be manually adjusted. During short time, satellite companies became aware of the fact that more and more people were purchasing satellite receivers. In the beginning satellite companies started to charge for programming, and they scrambled some of the programs so you had to buy another piece of equipment (satellite descrambler) to be able to watch the programming you had already paid for.
Generally, satellite programs are divided into two categories, free to air and premium. Free to Air programs do not requires a descrambler, but Premium or pay-per-view channels are scrambled until you purchase the equipment to descramble the programs you are unable to watch them. At present, the satellite receiver works as a satellite descrambler. All of the signals coming through your satellite are digitally scrambled until they reach your satellite descrambler. The descrambler decodes this information and converts it into a viewable form so the satellite programs can be viewed on your television sets.

Satellite descrambler is a card that contains specific software for authorized users to access a clear, digital picture and for that they usually pay a monthly subscription fee. Absence of appropriate descrambler restricts the user to receive only the scrambled signals from the satellite. Authorized user is given the appropriate descrambler by the company to enjoy the satellite programs they ordered and paid for. The price for the satellite descramblers varies a lot. The channels that will actually be available through the descrambler will depend upon the package that you have selected and the specific satellite system.

Satellite TV signals are beamed through a satellite to a satellite dish and then passed via a cable to the descrambler which is usually next to your TV. The main function of the receiver is to convert the radio frequency signals from the satellite dish into audio and video signals that you can feed into your television equipment. The signals for satellite shows are scrambled, that is why people without subscriptions get white haze. Satellite descrambler allows a wide range of shows to be available for a consumer’s attention, but the satellite service providers need to pay for the huge expense of the satellites, which is why a monthly subscription is charged for the satellite TV shows. The descrambler is the tool that allows the shows to actually come in to your TV set and prevent the individuals from watching satellite TV for free. A satellite descrambler is like an interpreter. The software present in the descrambler acts as an interpreter and lets you watch your favorite shows. That’s what the actual function of a satellite descrambler; it literally unscrambles a scrambled signal so you can enjoy quality television in your home.

Satellite signals are transmitted using an encryption algorithm that prevents pirates from receiving and viewing the signal. Unless you have the proper descrambling equipment, which contain the algorithm keys that enable regular viewing, the signal comes in garbled and warped. In audio/visual terms, the descrambler enables the proper audio and visual playback of the signal that you are receiving. There is certainly nothing to prevent you from owning a legitimately purchased satellite descrambler. These descramblers are completely legal, and you will find them promoted with satellite internet access. Descramblers come in several varieties, from standard to PVR units, and often satellite service providers want to attract you to opt for their service via premium content subscriptions or PVR capabilities.

If you purchased the descrambler through a legitimate source and receive legitimate satellite service they are merely a tool that enables you to use their services. If you obtained a hacked satellite descrambler from the market and do not pay for satellite services you are enjoying then you are acting illegally. A hacked descrambler will decode the satellite signal regardless of whether or not you are an active paying customer. Many people use these descramblers to gain free access to satellite programs. The reality is that you can obtain a satellite descrambler and view satellite television for free. However, if you are caught with illegal equipment you will be fined and possibly charged with theft. As well, satellite companies are constantly refreshing their algorithm keys, and only legitimate subscribers are able to receive the new ones via the satellite broadcast.

Modern television encryption techniques are also making descrambling rather unpractical, as many descramblers won’t allow you to view high-definition channels or movies, as their physical electronics are unable to transmit the proper signal. This is combined with the increasingly tight security that satellite companies are maintaining and you face a reality that illegitimate satellite descramblers are a dying fast. To go in for a legitimate satellite descrambler is the best solution you got, if you really want to enjoy those satellite shows on your TV sets.
